Fuel pressure question.

86 F-250 351w... What holds fuel pressure in the line going to the carb? Is it the fuel pump (mechanical)? The truck cranks; I see fuel pumped to my inline filter. As soon as it's pumped;it drains back out. Any other causes? Thanks.

Fuel pump does hold the gas in the line. If the filter is not completely full all the time, don't worry about it, a air pocket can get trapped in it sometimes.

I figured the fuel pump was the problem. I crang the truck over using the hand held trigger and as soon as fuel goes into the filter it drains out with each crank of the motor.

Make sure there is no gas in your oil.
