2003 Expedition SSV question

I'm Erik New to this site. I just purchased a 2003 ford expedition ssv 5.4 V8 FX4 XLT 4X4. Does anyone know what kind of service roster the ssv police/ambulance vehicles have ??? Thanks

Depends on the dept. that owned it, what it was used for and the type of jurisdiction they were in. Lots of variables. Do you know anything about where it came from?

How many miles? Being a city EMS vehicle and 8 years old it probably has lots of hours on it, generally the rule is something like 3x the mileage to account for the run time. Often times you can contact the municipal garage and ask for the specific vehicle's records, and at the very least what their schedule is. Your best thing to do it change all the fluids and start from scratch.

Yikes is all I can say! That is a ton of mileage on the clock. I'd bet it was repowered at some point.

Yes, new engine or a rebuild. That is a ton of miles for a service vehicle. It is from Canada, could you be looking at 200k kilometers? that would be 124k miles which is a lot more in line with when gov't agencies take vehicles out of service.

Well best bet is still to start with a fresh change on all the fluids and go from there.

The service interval on the plugs is 100k. I would expect they did it once, but probably not twice. Plug breakage is not uncommon, but also not that big a deal. There are lots of threads here about it, try the search function.

The SSV package is nothing more than a bunch of creature comfort and appearance deletes and an alternator upgrade, there are no body mods. There are chipped Expy's, again search the forums.
