what is the differences between 1356/4406/4407 T-cases?????

Hi, i was wondering if anyone can tell me differences in the 1356, 4406, 4407 transfer cases. which 1 has the highest 4H and the lowest 4L??? which 1 is more rugged???

Well, I don't know anything about the 4406 or 4407, but the 1356 is an aluminum case, chain driven transfer case. I haven't heard anything bad about them for on road use, but I know a lot of offroaders will replace the 1356 mainly because of the aluminum case being vulnerable.

ur F-250 probably has the 4406 i dont think the any 3/4 tons and bigger ever came with the 1356 but im not positive...

Well now you've got me wondering. I've always thought I had a BW 1356, so I went out and took a quick picture:

I looks like the BW 1356 to me. After looking up the 4406 and 4407, it looks like the 4406 was used in light duty F250, F150, and explorers from 1996 on. The 4407 was used in heavy duty F250 and F350s in 1996 and 1997. My truck is a 95, so I believe it still has the BW 1356, but I could be wrong.
