thought I would show some pics of the project I had been working on the last couple of days, just finished it, turned out pertty good. I was givin a tonneau cover canvas and just built around it. canvas was free, cost me about 120.00.
Yeah, where's the details? Looks awesome though! I had a tonneau cover at one time, but the aluminum frame got bent to hell in a snowstorm, but I still have the canvas. Just been too busy and perhaps lazy to fabricate a new frame.
I made a hard wood framed biscuit jointed,glued and screwed together. then glued and screwd 1/2" plywood to that. stained the bottom then went over the whole thing with waterproofing stain. I glued and stapled around the edges of the canvas. I then laid a bead of caulking all the way around the edges of the canvas. I made the outside frame out of 22 gauge primered sheet metal at work bent it to look like a J painted it with hammered black rustoleum and pushed it over the caulk canvas an frame.
