Automatic climate control ticking

My automatic climate control started to make muffled ticking sound. It's annoying. I think it's coming from inside the box under the dash that controls the flap that moves between hot and cold air.

Is there something simple that I can do to do a quick fix, or am I better off taking it in to the dealer and get replaced (under warranty??) I rather not leave the truck at the dealer for the day if I can avoid it since they're on the opposite side of town and I have trouble getting a ride.

Sounds like a similar problem some of us have had. It is the blend door actuator. You can get them fixed under warranty. Search blend door and I think you will get more info on it.

Hi, I have the same problem. I just turn the key on without starting the truck and it starts to tick and make noise. I will get it checked out at the dealer this week. Will give you an update after they check it out. Nice to get some input before I go in.

Ticking? I'd be worried that the fan's gonna blow (snare drum rim shot).

Argh!!! I picked up the truck tonight as the dealer was closing. The tech and the SW had already left for the weekend. My receipt says "unable to verify concern" on it. Seriously??? I go out to my truck, turn the key and guess what I hear. Stupid SOB's!!! So I march back in, there is only 1 guy in the whole service dept and he is wearing jeans and a t-shirt so I have no idea what his role is. I tell him to come out and listen. Turn the key on and no noise at all. WTF!!! He tries 5 times, no noise. Fine, Im leaving, start the truck and the stupid noise is there again. I grab the guy real quick and he says "oh thats nothing to worry about, its probably just the blend doors, even if you dont have the auto temp on air still passes through there and that noise is perfectly normal". Normal? He assures me its nothing to worry about. Whatever, I need the truck this weekend so I will just take it back again next week because it is NOT normal.

I have heard that one of them isnt that bad to change, the other one is a real pain. Im sure thats why they dont want to work on mine. If I can get them to fix it I will post a part number.
