Turbo Pedestal Oil Leak Question

Turbo Pedestal Oil Leak Question
I'm having an odd problem trying to track down an oil leak.
The leak is engine oil dripping off the bottom of the transmission bell housing. I would normally assume it is a rear main seal problem, but my reading here tells me that is uncommon. It was just leaving a couple of quarter size drops on the ground after each trip.
My HPOP area is dry. The turbo pedestal area was coated in wet oil gunk and the valley at the rear had some oil standing in it. The drain hole wasn't stopped up.
I've also checked the big oil galley plugs in the back of the heads and they are dry.
I thoroughly cleaned the valley and pedestal area. I've since driven the truck twice and the leak is gone. No more oil on the ground and the pedestal area (including the EBPV rod) and valley are staying dry. No oil there at all.
Any ideas? If its the EBPV rod leaking, does it only leak when the EBPV is operating? When does it operate?
There had to be a leak there at some point because of all the oil I cleaned away... but I couldn't tell if it was coming from the EBPV rod or the pedestal o-rings.
