Bronco rear bumper

Has anyone used a 78-79 Bronco rear bumper on their trucks? Mine is crap and I have a chance to get one and was wondering. I am deployed right now otherwise I would go out and just measure the back of my truck. Thanks!

Bumper ?

Are you looking for a standard style back bumper like this one? I have not seen a step style bumper on a Bronco before. If its like this one you will need the brackets also. FYI

Correct this style of bumper is used on a Bronco and and trucks, the pic is of one on a 79 bronco. I think his question is will a style like this work on his truck.

I think he wants to know if the frame widths will work, I think they are the same? He just will need to get the brackets on the underside.

They are hard to find, because people do not like that bumper style on a truck. I just sold a set of brackets for like $80 bucks.

Yes I like a good step bumper over that style all day long. But I think he has a lead on that style of bumper and wants to use it.

The attached pics are a step style and the brackets needed for that one.

To me those sport bumpers (I think that's what they were called) look like a front bumper on the back. I have the step bumper like pictured above on mine.

I have a 12" chrome drop bumper on my truck right now and it doesn't look good to me. I was going to get this bumper off a guy that is getting ready to part out his Bronco. The only thing that makes me nervous will be trying to get in the back once I put my lift nad tires on without the step bumper. I think it looks slick on the trucks though.

There is no such thing as a 1978/79 Bronco only rear bumper.

D3TZ-17906-A .. Chrome Contoured Rear Bumper (Sport Bumper? That's a term I've never heard before...because Ford never referred to it as such).

Fits: 1973/79 F100/350 Stylesides & 1978/79 Bronco's / Contour refers to the section that is dished inwards for the license plate to attach to.

There was also a painted version: D3TZ-17906-B

The bumpers are the same, but the brackets are not. There is no Step Bumper listed in the parts catalog for a 1978/79 Bronco.

This Bronco is missing the splash shield that fits between the body and the bumper.

EOTZ-17808-B (replaced D8TZ-17808-A) .. Splash Shield.

Fits: 1978/79 Bronco / 1980/86 Bronco without a Step Bumper.

Splash shleld for a 1980/86 Bronco with a Step Bumper: EOTZ-17808-A

Thanks ND....................was the countour bumper for the trucks different than the Bronco? The one on mine is flat across the top. It does not have the drop down section like the one pictured on the Bronco............

1973/79 Stylesides and 1978/79 Bronco: Same-O Same-O, see the applications in post #13 for the D3TZ-17906-A & B contoured rear bumpers.

Thru 1979 (maybe later, cannot recall) ALL rear bumpers were optional.

Since myriad bumper companies had been offering aftermarket rear bumpers for trucks for decades, the one on your truck is not Genuine Ford, or is off some other Ford.

Post a better pic of the puppy, maybe I can ID it.
