I have a friend with a 96 or 97 ford powerstroke 4x4 5spd reg cab 250. he wants to find a intercooler for his truck and needs to know where he can get one and how much they cost? also he wants to know if it is possible to put one on this truck without too much work?

My '95 has the Banks kits that includes the air-to-air, or intercooler but it was installed before I bought it. I doubt I spend the money to install one now, it's looks like it was a major hassle to install.

 

I was under the impression that intercoolers don't let you get quite the air flow that you would without one. Is this true or am I misunderstanding?

 

From what I understand, adding an intercooler will not reduce the boost, but will increase the lag time in developing boost. I've got a friend with a SuperDuty intercooler on his, and he has installed a few more on other people's trucks. It's a bigger job than I'd be willing to take on, but he's got it down to a one-day job. He would be considered to be a vendor, so I don't think I can go into much detail here, but send me an email, and I'll connect you two, if you're interested.
