Wink 1994 ford f-150 inline 6, exaust mods?

iv been reading up and i think my inline six is way to quiet... everyones bashing my motor when i know if i had the money i could make her a torque monster. but i dont.. so im trying to make her sound beastly. i dont think muffler mods are gonna do anything but make it sound like a tractor. but i was thinking if i split the manifolds into dual exaust straght from the motor in 3" piping would that work?? and if i did that will i loose any power? and is there any other options i have for a badder sounding truck?

thanks

Have fun...Cos even if you do get the idle-1,500 rpm sounding nice an throaty, the upper rpms will let the cat outta the bag....

I have an EFI 4.9L that'll be going in a project '64 F100, I plan to run the efi manifolds, cut the pipe off right before the first cat, run 3" pipe from there out to a long glasspack or turbo muffler with a 3" tailpipe, that's my recommendation for a cheap, decent performing exhaust. I wouldn't use a muffler that's too loud or it'll sound like crap.

I don't know, maybe it's me getting older, but part of me likes a nice quiet comfortable truck for a daily driver. But if you must know here is my recipe for sound on my 96 F150 (with a 300). Hacked both cats and made a Y-pipe into 2.5" single pipe with a Dynomax Super turbo muffler and a 2.5" single tailpipe out the stock location. It has a little throatiness to it at idle, but otherwise it has a really mild growl to it; nothing obnoxious. I would definately not put true duals on your truck, it WILL sound like a pissed off bumble bee. IMO the best sound you will get is from a single exhaust, you could go with a SI DO muffler if you must have duals. The bottom line is, it's an inline six it will NEVER sound like a V8, especially because it's an EFI motor.
As for people bashing your motor, unfortunately you really can't control what they say or do. Although sometimes it would be nice to punch them in the face, usually that is only temporary relief though... then you might have bigger problems on your hands. Anyone with any vehicle knowledge and an open mind wouldn't have anything truly bad to say about the Ford 300 six. In the community of people who actually know anything, it's one of the most respected engines ever produced. They're known for stubborn reliability and bulletproof durability. A while back I was talking to a guy who used to work for a local car dealer in my area. He said they had a few Ford trucks come in with these engines in the Cash for Cluckers program. He told me the 300 sixes were one of the hardest engines to kill. Makes me sick when I think about it
