Banks Big Head Wastegate Actuator

Has anyone installed Banks Big Head Wastegate Actuator on their 7.3 PSD?

What, if any comments about this actuator would you care to share?

The installation instructions call for use of an air compressor to the nipple to extend the arm pin...has anyone done it another way without the air?

Thanks in advance to all replies.

Jeff

Sorry I can't help but have had the same questions as you. I noticed them from Riff Raff and it stated it would help in your mid range pulling I think? Anyway, I'm sure we can both get some advice in time.............

I have one on mine & I just used a bicycle pump to get the rod extended enough to hook on the pin. JMHO if I had it to do again I'd buy the waste gate controller ( I think dieselsite sells it ) it's adjustable very simply & I believe you could set your boost where you what it much easier than the bighead deal. BTW I tried to adjust mine after running it awhile & could not get any adjustment at all, the threads are stuck period.

Clay talked me out of the Big Head he said I could acheive the same results by just adjusting my rod. I was looking the the Diesel site one the other day and it looks nice. It adjusts with the turn of a wratchet.

I have had mine for several years. Install was no big deal and I have had it out since then to install a ported housing. I use air pressure to extend it as it is much easier. You can get other options to do the same job, or as mentioned you can rework the existing actuator to get a little more closing force.
