Question about tuned OBS.
Hey guys so I got a question about a tuned OBS vs a Superduty. Last night we put a Dp tuner on my friends OBS its a 95 with 220,000 miles on it. I know smoke is waisted fuel and all but in his 140 aggressive tune its barley smokes, more like hazes but in my 140 aggressive tune it put out a nice cloud then clears it up. His 140 tune also feels like it has way less power then mine. Also I make between 25 and 30 PSI in my 140 tune but the most we got out of his was 10 PSI and I checked for boost leaks and I dont see anything. What are we missing here? Is it becuase he has a Mechanicial fuel pump vs a electric one like I have? Open to any suggestions.
Thanks Nick

Hey Nick,
Nice to see you down here in the OBS section.
To simply answer your question, that is not typical. Mine used to smoke real good on a lower setting back when mine was more stock.
I could get 24 psi out of a stock turbo and stock injectors.
Your friends truck has an issue that should be diagnosed. 10 psi is terribly low with a chip. Maybe on stock tuning and 100% stock engine, but I even got more boost than that when I was stock.
I now see over 40 psi but I am not stock anymore. Muhahaha.
Are you sure that the chip was tuned for his truck? These come with single shots from the factory and not split shots.
Does he have any mods? Stock exhaust and intake?
More info and we could help diagnose the problems.
BTW the stock mechanical pump is not that much of a hinderance. I got over 400 HP with my stock one. And when I switched to electric I didn't see much if any difference.

OP Neal is correct, 10 PSI is way low. WAG disconnect the MAP sensor and see if that helps

Thanks Neal. His truck has a 6637, stock down pipe into a 3 1/2 Straight pipe. On the Dp tuner paper it says that it's for a 95 power stroke. Could it be a very weak HPOP? I would check it but I can't get AE to work on his truck.

You've got to change the communication settings to get it to connect to the 95... I forget exactly what needs changed at the moment.

With Stage-1's I'm every bit of 310 hp like the other tuners, yet my PHP tunes push hardly a haze.

Nick there is definitely something wrong with either the programming or the truck. No smoke isn't an issue if you were pushing some good boost but 10 psi is WAY low. Bone stock you should see about 15 psi.
Like Robb said. Try unplugging the connector on the MAP sensor and run the truck.
Chances are slim its a weak HPOP. It would set a CEL if that were the case.
