I took Havi’s spring recommendation and went to the shop; things didn’t work out quite that well. Any one have a sliding jaw for a Record No. 7 (discontinued)? I’m an idiot.
I sure hope that's not Blood there on the cabinet below!
Hey did he ever explain what happened?????I am am dying of curiosity.still
Ok, but it’s not much of a story and you asked. Some of the details are a little fuzzy, other then not to do it again, and it involved a power steering pump.
My 460 came with a high mounted Saginaw power steering pump which is kind of handy as most of the Mustang II rack hose kits have Saginaw fittings on them, unfortunately the aftermarket A/C bracket sits right where the PS pump (new style – press fit pulley) was located so new low mount brackets are required, might as well change the pulley over to a nice shinny one while we are at it, right? Only the threads where the bolt that pulls the pulley on are badly rusted and of course that size thread tap is missing from the set and it’s ten at night. No problem, just set up the pump and the pulley in the vise and squeeze it together, man is that new pulley tight, taps on the vise handle with a hammer help and then taps on the vise jaw help, man is that new pulley tight, harder taps and then real hard taps and keer-bang, pump goes flying, vise flips over and shinny pulley is now bent shinny pulley.
A new pump complete with pulley is now here. Last weeks progress (before pulley pressing incident);
