Grier Beam Transportation Museum, NC

My wife and I were celebrating our 7 year wedding anniversary, so we hit the road Saturday. We hopped on the bike to head nowhere in particular. We wound up in a nearby town at at transportation museum. The museum celebrates Grier Beam's Carolina Freight Company. They had fully restored trucks from 1927 until the 1970s. Big beautiful red and black trucks. Mostly Macks, Chevys, Whites, and one beauty that I think ya'll would enjoy.

If you're ever in Cherryville, NC then check out Beam Truck Museum - Index.

My wife and I were making small talk with the volunteers at the free museum when I realized they had brochures for another similar museum that was an hour and a half up the road. We had nowhere to go, so on the bike we hopped.

Away we went to Bennet's Classic Antique Auto Museum.

Another place that ya'll might appreciate if you are in the mountains of NC.

It was a nice day.

This sounds like it was a neat and very enjoyable trip visiting these interesting museums.

Looks like you had a good trip. I may need to dust off my Harley and try that out. We go to the Biltmore and the Asheville area all the time which is kind of close to that area. I might try to do that on my way to the NASCAR museum sometime. I was looking at that second museum link. They have a 50 Ford F1 and a 50 Ford coupe that is almost identical to my dad's car.

Ashville

Ashville has an antique car museum too. We didn't make it due to weather but we will make a trip up there sometime. Of course Wheels Through Time is in Maggie Valley, NC. If you're planning a trip via F100 or HD, then you might want to hit these too.

I've seen the signs for the Beam Museum but I have never stopped. I will have to make a point to get by there. I have never found Bennet's even though I have gotten off the highway and sought it out. I'll give it another shot the next time I am up that way.

Mountaindoc - you can take hwy 74 bus. out of Asheville and it is a nice scenic route down to Forest City where Bennett's is located. You pass thru the Bat Cave, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock area in route and it's a nice trip via motorcycle or car.
