5.4 cold idle start up

I have a 5.4 and when started cold... it revs to 1700rpm and slowly comes down to 1000rpms. Is there an adjustment to calm down the initial start up rpms?
thanks!!!

Not really. It's in the PCM programming.

I don't understand the necessity of the high revs on a cold engine at start up. Thought there may be and adjustment or if in the PCM, maybe could get flashed to something more like 1300 or so.

you would think this would be hard on a cold engine!

It's all about warming the engine faster to reduce emissions. I never liked it when I had my 01 F150 5.4L. Perhaps with a Diablosport Predator, you could get a custom tune to change it.
