Hey guys! I've got a 1985 Ford F-150 with a 4.9L 300 Six.

I am looking for an entire exhaust system, I just don't know where to get it for my year/make/model truck...


If you know where I could buy it, let me know!

 

Google it. I know JEGS, & NPD sell them.

 

I googled a lot of them, but I trust the guys on FTE, so I always ask for the advice of you guys.

EDIT: NPD doesn't even sell my year exhaust system... :P

 

Doubt anyone makes a bolt in deal. Probably run you $500 or less at a local exhaust shop. I'd recommend since you'll be doing the exhaust to snag a dual outlet exhaust manifold off a newer fuel injected big six before doing the exhaust. It should give a slight performance improvement.

 

They make a bolt in system for the 4.9, I've seen them, just can't remember where. I'll have to check after while and see where.

 

Switch to EFI split manifolds, the increase in power is quite noticeable.
You can then use a Walker 45166 y-pipe. They also make a direct fit cat, muffler, and tailpipe, I'm not sure about the part numbers for those.
A lot of people also choose to go with a turbo-style muffler after the y-pipe, and dump just in front of the rear tire. Usually sounds pretty good.

Not too sure on how much difference between a 85 to a 87 ( I know there is a gen break, but not too sure how much difference under the chassis) but we do have two systems that MIGHT work for you. This is for 87-96's though.

Dynomax PN 17447 (2.25 pipe diameter)
Dynomax PN 17312 (2.5 pipe diameter)

 

87-96 would be fuel injected. Aside from that the frames are the same. So basically you'd need a split outlet manifold from a fuel injected truck then you should be able to use the Dynomax bolt on exhaust.

 

One of the very first posts I made on this board was how much knowledge there was here, and you provided a little more for me!

 

I'm pretty sure that the Walker part # I posted above is what you would get from Dynomax-they are one and the same.

 

Walker and Dynomax have the same parent company. But a lot of the mufflers have different designs internally.

The walker Y pipe is large internally but often the hole in the one pipe where they are welded together is a restriction.
You can take a 1 7/8" hole saw with an extension and open it up.

Found a guy on YouTube (sounded like an old man) put true duals on his 300 with Flowmaster Super 44's, no cats. It honestly sounded like a V8. Very very mean. I was very much impressed.
