89 2.9 uses oil

89 2.9 using oil run compression test 183 on the high 178 on the low vacumn is at 18+" one day to a low of 17" on another has good power and throttle response I can c or feel no blow by from valve cover, when idling fine when blipping throttle itll smoke? Any ideas? THANX!!

The 2.9 likes to leak oil , I have a 89 2.9 with 206k uses 1qt by 1500mi 2qt by 2500mi on add by 3500 and change the oil runs grate no blow by most leaks fixed.

I do not know, it does not leak it burns it valve seals?

2.8,2.9 Engines need almost regular replacement of valve guide seals as part of their maint.
That would be my bet on oil consumption.
