2007 GMC Canyon VS 1997 F350 help in deciding if this is a good trade

Hello all, I have had a few diesels in the past, but nothing DI or Turbocharged. When my Diesel Ranger blew up, I got into a 2007 GMC Canyon. It's 2WD Short bed regular cab and work interior. 35,700 miles. I'm interested in getting another diesel (in fact, I never really wanted a gasser, but got suckered into it by grandparents.) I have been looking at a 1997 F350 Crew Cab DRW. It has had some sort of aftermarket company work on it, as it has these "Southern Hauler" badges on the side. I'm guessing they add all the Visors and such and possibly the leather seats in it? It is 2WD. It has a 6 disc Cd changer behind the rear seats as well. I have been offered this truck for my truck and $2000 dollars. It seems fair to me. The Stroke has 130,000 miles on it clean engine sounds good starts good. No white or blue smoke. I know how well the powerstrokes are on reliability. Do you guys think this is a fair trade from a car lot? Also, what sort of mileage can be expected from this truck?

That's probably not bad then, just realize you're getting a 10 year older truck than what you have, little oil leaks, fuel leaks, etc. can happen. I don't want to talk you out of it, just stating the facts. They are great trucks, and if you can do a little mechanic work yourself, this site is the best for help if needed.

35k and only 7 grand? I thought that would still be worth more than that even though its brand x. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Mileage depends on whether its 4.10 or 3.55 rear gear. It should get at least 15, close to 20 if you drive nice and are lucky. Mine will get 20, but that's at 55. 75 with my 3.55's I get 17.

Yeah, I realize I'm going down in years and I could face a few problems in the stroke. I'm willing to do that for a more powerful truck though. The GMC isn't bad unless you hook well...anything to it. It wont pull a dang lawnmower trailer without suffering. I also am tired of not having any room. And the F350 has bunches and bunches of room. Yeah, I would think the Canyon would book a little better too, but its just a bare and simple work truck. I know a little about diesels and dont care to do my own work. I have already saw how helpful the members of this forum are from my other two trucks.
