Can anyone tell me what the # is for the fan shroud for a 351m/400. I never had one on my truck when i got one and need the # in order to purchase one.

I needed one also, but for just a little more money I went ahead and did the Lincoln Mark VIII electric fan conversion and am very impressed with the cooling ability.

 

yeah, ive been thinking of doing it just havent been able to locate one locally. For the time being i wanted to get a fan shroud so i can put my truck on the road without worrying about overheating and for saftey... Do you know the part # by any chance for the shroud...

 

1977/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco 351M/400: There are three different fan shrouds.

D7TZ-8146-A .. Fan Shroud / Marked: D7TA-AA

Fits: 1977/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco 351M/400 w/Xtra Cooling & A/C Radiators.

D7TZ-8146-B .. Fan Shroud / Marked: D7TA-8146-FA

Fits: 1977/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco 351M with Standard Cooling Radiator.

D7TZ-8146-D .. Fan Shroud / Marked D7TA-SA

Fits: 1977/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco 351M/400 with SUPER Cooling Radiator.

The marked number is molded into the shroud at the upper left (drivers) side corner.

If it never had a shroud and it's a 351M without A/C, you'll most likely will need the one for the standard cooling radiator.

 

does not having a fan shroud inhibit performance that much?

 

Haven't had a fan shroud for over 20yrs.....and I haven't noticed any difference one way or the other in performance or cooling ability. But that's my experience.
Someone in the warmer latitudes might have a different perspective.

 

Honestly, i am not sure if it make that much of a difference but im trying to restore my truck and want to get one to make it more complete. Bill, I am having trouble finding someone who carries the standard cooling fan shroud for a 4x4. Bronco graveyard has one for a 2wd, it doesnt look like LMC has one..... Could you point me in the right direction?

Where are you located? I think I have one in storage at my parents place. I swapped out to a larger radiator when I put in a 460 in my 78 F-250 4x4. I'm located in Southeast MI.
