It will fit the body lines but the latches are different, so you may have to do some retrofitting there.

Not a problem, a friend of mine Pointed out that the tailgate cover piece was taking away from the taillights....And I love the recessed look with the FORD lettering stamped instead of a piece of plastic.....Jmo...Thanks man

This was discussed here a week or so ago.. the latch mechanism is completely different.

It would take a lot of fabrication to make it work...

I see, what exactly is so different? Is it the latches on the tailgate only, or are we talkin a major PITA?

Maybe people made them fit, IDK.

My friend has an 86 bronco and it has the same latch system the newer trucks have.

Yes they will work. You just have to change the "striker" and things to the 80-86 style..

Use search. Quite a few people have done this.

When I had my 86 I was going to put a 92-96 on it but never got around to it. I made a thread and it had a few pics by syco(?)

EDIT: found my old link.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...-tailgate.html

Pretty sure there is another thread with some detailed pics of the swap from Syco.

Personally I would not do this swap from 92-96 to older. I like the newer tailgates. I like smooth tailgates.. Especially shaved tailgates.
