e4od tranny question

I am very new to posting so pleez bear with me. I recently bought (oct 2010) a 95 f150 e4od 4x4 5.0 ext cab 175000 miles with many issues. starter, power steering line, tranny line, rear brake lines. I knew that it was cheap for a reason. I got everything fixed, even drained tranny and put in new filter and fluid, 6 quarts. i bypassed the antilock? block on the frame rail and ran the brake line straight to the rear end. started for the first time, and everything ran nicely. ran 1 week and it started to drop into neutral at stop signs, i would have to hold high rpms to get to go. then it would shift perfectly until next stop. Finally quit going forward altogether. Drained fluid again and from torque conv. and blew out all lines and new filter, put in 15 quarts. After starting again, if i reved it up it would start again, only did this twice, now no forward again. Reverse works great. Changed the mlps with no effect. This tranny shifted too nice to need to be rebuilt. I checked all electrical connectors to the tranny they seemed fine. I checked the resistance in the tps and it is moving nicely from .8 ohms to 4.8ohms. i am sorry for the long post but i thought all info would help. Thanks for any info.

Two things spring to mind. First thing is did you fit the filter for the 4x4 trans and not 4x2?
Second thing is 15qts is not enough fluid, should be around 17qts of Mercron V spec fluid.

I had to buy the filter kit according to the number of bolts on the pan, 14 vs. 20 and the filter matched the original one in there. and I have checked the fluid several different times after warming up and trying to shift through the gears with no forward movement, but reverse works fine.

Pull the codes if you haven't already done that... Always should be the first step when dealing with an E4OD..

I pulled codes when i changed fluid the second time, came up with 111 in koer and 111 in koeo. I plan on checking them again, problem is the truck is not close by. did not want to risk a tow so left it at a friends place. Sorry i should have mentioned it first.

Are you saying that you have a 14 bolt pan? If so then you have a 4R70W trans.
Regardless of the pan bolts the filter for the 4x4 trans is longer than the one for the 4x2 trans, because of the deeper pan used.

I did not know that they put the 4r70w trans in a 95, thanks for the clarification but the filter matched the first one i pulled out so i assumed it was correct. It did work ok for 6 days until it started dropping out of gear at stop signs. Thanks for the input so far i really appreciate the effort.

The correct filter for your trans should be, I think, Wix 58955, maybe you can cross reference to check that you have the right one.
Other than that my guess would be that the seals in the forward clutch servo are worn but make sure the filter is the right one.
And for a 4R70W 15qts should be plenty of fluid.

I will cross check the filter, but do you think the transmission would have worked for a week with the wrong filter? Again, thanks for your time.

If it was over filled, maybe.
You could possibly try adding some Berryman B12 Chemtool to it to swell the servo seals and see if that helps (if the filter checks out).
