Some of the 7.3 intercoolers came with metal ends, some came with plastic ends. I forgot what the deciding factor on that was, but the ones with metal ends are better, tho $100 is a price you can't beat.
The "word" is that the plastic buckets (ends) hold a bit more air and that's good, but are a potential burst failure point. If you are not doing monster boost, I wouldn't worry too much.
