Who's moved their steering wheel?

Well I just picked up my new bucket seats and am doing some measuring to see what fits best... and I'm thinking about moving the steering wheel 2" left... to center it over the seats... I have an auto so no clutch pedal to worry about, and I still have a strait axle up front... Who's moved theirs? Any problems? Who well do you see your gauges? What column, steering box and wheel are you using?

nah, moving the seats looks crazy too.. too far inboard to put your arm on the door.. a big gap between the door and the seat..
no room between the seats cause of the inboard position..

and sometimes either way looks dopey thru the windshield..

I went with a bench seat to avoid all this, AND I moved the wheel 3/4in left to center the view thru the steering wheel..

I'm having the same issue I may have to move my steering wheel to the left. When I sit directly behind the wheel I'm not in the seat cushion's center.

If using the stock steering, column and box combo, with the straight axle, I don't see any way to move the column. It's attached to the frame rail and it goes where it goes. If you want to cut it off at the bottom and go with some kind of replacement or aftermarket column, you could put it most anywhere as long as you can make up the angles with steering u-joints and short shaft in between, and not have anything in a bind.

Mines still attached to the steering column. But I have seen the nut let loose behind the wheel. I am just thankful I survived that incident.

Well I moved mine. 2 Bolts at the dash and it shifted over.I sat in the seat and moved it until it felt right.Of course I had changed to power steering and used a universal knuckle? @ the steering box...so the move did not cause a problem.I did keep the original steering wheel, with something the PO had used as a column

I know about the bench... but I have a problem with my bench seat and my shifter, it hit if I shift into first... I have a set of bucket seat from an '95 tahoe I can install... Putting the seats centered to the column there is about 1/2" between them and about 3" from door.

Yep, sounds like you've got both sets f problems. Floor shift and bench, and buckets with column alignment.

Any way to use some different shift lever with the bench?
Or are you anxious to use the buckets?

Sdetweil, I have a Lokar 23" Double Bend Nostalgia Automatic Transmission Shifters. I am going to check to see if I can rotate it around the other way... I don't care if it's a bucket or a bench... But I want something better then the Ranger bench that is in there now... Here is what I just finished drawing... one with seats spread out and one close... Close together is about where the steering wheel sits...
