Another recon product failure

My experience with Recon: The Big Rig tailgate lights worked for about the 1st month. Then they worked off and on when they wanted. Now they are completely out. I bought the running board lights so far they are working fine. If they fail I will be done with Recon. I am contemplating the lighted side emblems for my 2011 F250. But $299.00 is petty steep. My question is how difficult is it to remove the old emblems and install the new lighted emblems? I know its been a while since this thread has been discussed. I was looking for something on removal and thought I would add my 2 cents on this one.

I am not a fan of Recon but I have the fire and ice light bar under the tailgate. It has been really good will all the abuse it has taken over the last couple of years until a couple of weeks ago in which the tape holding the bar failed on 3 of the 5 holders. A couple of screws fixed the issue but overall it was a good product. The most common comment I get to hear is the light bar is out in the back. When I show them the wire in the tailgate, they say oh!
However, I stopped looking at their product lineup when I saw the cost of the products.

Had my two cousins buy their products, one got a set of smoked cab lights for his 2500hd (truck meet had them) the other one bought smoked tail lights and third brake light. I liked them so much I ordered smoked can lenses to replace my faded Amber covers and I got the smoked third brake light. Well within a year all of our products failed, LED burnt out and entire assembly stopped working. Customer service was horrible for all three of us mine was a few days past "warranty" and was told too bad!!!!! I went to a local RC hobby shop and bought all new 5mm white LED and replaced all the bulbs in the third brake light. It's been three years and the hobby shop LED are working beautiful where recon bulbs lasted a few months

My clearance lights, license plate lights, tails, and side markers are all working flawlessly (knock on wood). After reading these posts I feel lucky. I have the side emblems on the way but I don't know if I want to put them on the truck or not. I like it as is and I'm not sure they will be an improvement.

I tried the lighted side emblems for my 2008 f-250. and the transformers melted after a week or two. I happened to have much larger transformers from a set of their lighted door jambs that did not fit right so I took them off, I put them on the side emblems and they changed colors from yellow to blue, anyway I had them on the truck for 6-7 years and they worked but the chrome finish on the emblems cracked and faded after a year or two and they did not look good. their products are Chinese made so you know the quality, if you only have the truck for a short time maybe it would be o.k., but I would spend the money on other mods instead.
