After sitting the truck has no acceleration
After sitting for several days my truck has no acceleration. Usually after 3-4 miles the problem disappears but lately it seems to be getting worse. It acts like it is running way too rich. Changed fuel filter with no effect. Have not had a chance to follow to see if there is a lot of black smoke when accelerating. Truck is a 97 with about about 78K miles. Tranny seems to be ok but is slow to shift because of the slow acceleration. The only code I found was P0470, Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Circuit Error.
Any suggestions?
TIA

The EBPV is used to speed engine warm ups.
Your EBPV is most likely sticking. You can unplug it and/or tie the valve open. Look here for more info: post #5

Cuda_jim, your analysis was right on the money although it was the exhaust brake that was not opening. I should have mentioned this in my post. Drove it today and it ran great after I fiddled with the brake. I have had so little trouble with the truck that I have not had to learn all of the ends and outs of a diesel but this forum is becoming a great help.
