Hey guys I know this isn't a tech section, but I'm about to tune up my new car. What is needed to be done on a 1994 4.6L? Also what in the heck is a pcv valve and should I replace it? Someone at an autoparts store told me to run seafoam through the engine, but if all it does is clean out a $3 part, shouldn't I just get the $3 part?
Killgore, if it is running okay, I'd just drive it. Seafoam is good stuff, but unless the MAF is dirty you probably won't see much change. New plugs can help if there are lots of miles on the old ones and at some point new wires might help too at some point. 4.6's are good engines and will run a long time without bunches of stuff done to them.
Well the PCV valve was a little dirty and stuff so I just replaced it real quick. The plugs seem to be okay and the wires still look fairly new on them. I just did a quick oil change, filter change and that pcv valve. After 90 or so miles I'm getting 16.1 strict city driving, so I think it is pretty healthy (owners manual said 16/22)
Good morning Curtis and all. I'm headed to Wamego for the 4th and then doing some R&R on the SD this weekend. I'll be doing a fluid change in the transmission and maybe a cooling system flush if I get time.
