96 F150 drink holders
Does anyone have any fixes for the drink holders on a 96 f150. I have five speed 4x4 so I dont have room for a center consol. The drink holder is too big to hold most drinks and they always fall over. I didnt know if there was something I could get from another ford that would help? I have a bench seat.

Hey, do you have the factory drink holder that mounts on the two studs in the front of the seat? I was thinking about one of these (my truck has a 5 speed) and wasn't sure if there would be enough room between my bench seat and the shifter. It sure is a pain to try to keep something from spilling all over me while shifting.

96 F150 drink holders
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Dec-02 AT 09:20 AM (EST)]I have the factory one my 94 F-150 (I ordered the truck new) 5 spd It has a single rather lame cup holder and a little tray and it mounts on two studs on the front of the seat. The problem is the cup holder diameter is two large for most travel mugs. You either have to balance it (the mug) or what I do is wrap a rag around the bottom of the cup so it wedges in. The engineer who designed it should of went to 7-11 and bought a cup of coffee and used it for the proper sizing. It's better than nothing though !!! This was part of the convience/light option. The best thing about this option package is the door map pockets and good map/dome lite.

96 F150 drink holders
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Dec-02 AT 04:29 AM (EST)]My Dad gave me one he had made out of wood to fit one of his earlier F150's. It works good in my 96/bench/4x4/5 spd. Basically it is almost shoe box sized except not as long. The top with the holes is at an angle, making it easier to remove drinks. And the angle faces forward. It is heavy enough that it just sits there. Sometimes I move it up on the seat. It works good there, too.
You might use a shoe box as a guide for fit behind the shifter to get some ideas. Another fix is to get a nice thermo cup that does fit your drink holder. Then when you buy a drink just transfer it to the thermo-cup.

FYI
Spillmaster (I think) Makes a adjustable cup holder that fits and locks into the OEM cup holder. I bought it at Wally world. I have the cup holders that hook to the front off the bench but they were not big enough for my Ice Tea Mugs. This one works great. I can put just about any size cup/mug/glass and adjust it to size.

This thread is old but I keep finding it in my search so I thought I would provide an update now that 10 years have past. Helping my daughter find parts for her first car. Actually a 1996 F150 4x4 extended cab. No cup holders so I watched ebay until I found a factory model for the right price and the right color (blue). (19.99 + shipping) It did not come with the mounting screws/studs, seller stated they were to rusted to the seat frame.
Called the dealer since I found references from 2010 that the dealer still had some of these accessories. My dealer did not have the screws but they could get them from their dealer network for $12.56 ea plus shipping if I wanted to come in and pre-pay for them. I did ask for the part number: N807732S58, SCREW & WASH M6X1.0
Well I work on old cars all the time so I started checking my obsolete and used part sources. Found these same screws for $5 ea plus shipping at Green Sales Company - Obsolete Ford parts, Lincoln, Mercury parts Green Sales Company, supplier of obsolete Ford parts and Lincoln / Mercury parts.* Our Ford parts inventory represents all Ford and Lincoln / Mercury products from 1950 to the present.
Probably still paid a bit to much but we have been working on this project and are trying to keep it as original as possible.
