So I finally got off the fence and ordered a new 6.2 F-250... just over a week ago. I e-mailed my salesman today to see about my serial number or build date and he told me because of the "issues" in Japan the 6.2 is facing build delays. He thinks they will know more next week but as of now, no build date. Anyone hear of this? WTF? It was 6-8 weeks first, then 8-10, then they were getting caught up and back to 8 weeks... so I ordered, (plus better rebates in March), now no eta on a build date. What gives?

 

I was reading a story somewhere that the pigments used in red and black paint come only from Japan, and Ford asked dealers not to order these colors for inventory for now. If I find where I saw the story I will post a link. Other than that I don't what parts would come from Japan.

 

I ordered an F-350 4x4 on January 26th. Original build date was March 21st. Dealer called middle of last week and said truck was delayed due to shortages of 4x4 transfer cases. They didn't think it was a Japan problem, just shortage of parts.

Dealer said they were allocated one 4x4 unit for this week which would be my vehicle, but dealer had a feeling it may be delayed again. Should know late this week if it got built or not.

I read those same stories about pigment additive for the metallic paints, but then the colors they list do not include my Pale Adobe Gold... which is a metallic paint? Guess it's transfer case related?!? Only Ford knows and they aren't telling.

In the big picture it took me almost a year to decide V-10 or 6.4, (chose V-10)... then when I've finally chose my options... no V-10! The 6.2 seems alright, I hope. I waited this long, I guess a little longer won't kill me. Then again Christmas takes a year to come but the last month is the killer!
