You need truck headers a set from a Mustang won't work, any truck shorty would fit the engine in any series(f150, F250, F350 etc) except where smog equipment is concerned since the HD trucks had different connection points for the air tubes. If however you were eliminating that stuff then it's not a concern and you could use a set designed for an F150 for example. For ultimate durability stainless is the way to go with ceramic coated next best.

So I could use a set off of a 5.0 if it was an f150?I've been loking at ceramic coated ones, also what would the horse power gain be with them on?

A 5.0 truck header will bolt to the engine no problem(same head) but it may not allign perfectly with the Y-pipe since the 5.8 block is taller and wider and it won't have a fitting for the EGR tube at the front passenger side. Power gains could range from next to zero if the stock cats remain to 10-15hp/tq with aftermarket high flow exhaust systems.

I would agree not to use a mustang header. I did a I had to cut my new Magnoflow Y pipe up to make it work. I like the headers much better then the stock manifolds but if I had to do it again I would do truck headers and keep my Y pipe stock

302 to 351 Y pipes are not only different in width but the pipe sizes are also different. You would get max efficiency and flow out of 351 truck headers.
I bought the Ford Racing stainless ones and am really happy with them.
