I got a 94 and 95 f 250s both 4 wheel drives both have 351w engines...Does anyone know what the inlet and outlet sizes are on these trucks for the pipes going in the muffer?its one pipe in and two out on the 95 f 250 and thats the one I want to put the origonal 40 series muffler on.But for some reason that muffler isnt listed for my truck.I like the sound it has a guy I know has one on his 96 f 250 but I cant figure out how he made it fit?is there a way a muffler shop can do this?or do I have to buy a direct fit muffler?at the parts store the box said on the muffer box 2.50 inlet and duel 2.00 outlets im guessing that wont fit my stock 95 exhaust system or will it?im guessing not or can it be made to fit?is there any direst fit muffler thats loud anyways?or are there any other mufflers that will give me a little more power and sound really nice and fit right on cause the stock muffler I got really sucks.just wondering any info will help.

 

I think they are 2.75" and any muffler that has those size inlets will fit in there, as long as it doesn't hit the driveshaft or anything.

also- a good muffler shop should be able to make most mufflers fit. have you thought about eliminating the dual exhaust and just going for a single tailpipe?

Just about anything can be made to fit, but the exhaust on these trucks is usually 2.5" inlet and 2.00" outlet when there are two tailpipes.

One of my son's friends put a tractor muffler on his S10.

 

I thought about doing that to my truck. Considering the 300 isn't far from being a tractor engine anyway.

The tractor mufflers are just louvered glasspacks!

That's the truth actually. "My" guy told me he was doing me a favor, that my body lift was actually too high. He said it was too high by like, 1/4 of an inch I think, because of the rubber bushing.

I called him one time asking a question. He was as rude as could be. The only reason I go to him is because he's right up the street. I need to find someone else.

The outlets are 2" and the inlet is 2.25" or 2.5", depending on the GVW of the truck. You first need to confirm the inlet pipe size. My '97 F250HD (8600+ GVW) has a massive single cat with 2.5" pipe going into the muffler. The problem with trying to use the stock tailpipes is that the factory muffler has both outlets offset to one side and they are very close (2" centers IIRC). Most aftermarket mufflers have the dual outlets farther apart. This will really mess with the tailpipe tip positions which are designed to be parallel and even. I used a Cherry Bomb Pro welded chambered (Flowmaster knock-off) with 2.5" inlet and dual 2.25" outlets. I had a muffler shop install it and they had to re-bend one of the factory tailpipes to accomodate the wider outlet spacing and make the chrome tips line up with each other and look good. They did a good job, but a less experienced shop could have issues and make it look like crap. I love the low rumble and it's not much louder than factory, due to the catalytic converter still being in place.

You can get a factory-fit direct replacement from Walker DynoMax (called SoundFX) that flows better, but it won't make much difference in terms of sound level or tone. They are expensive, but could be installed yourself since you won't have to do any bending.

The other option I would suggest is Jones Mufflers, like their "Full Boar" style chambered. I believe they even make a direct fit replacement. You can download their catalog and find it there. If I had it to do over, I would go with the Jones. Hope this helps.

dont they sell those Walker DynoMax mufflers at advanced auto?I thought i seen them there or maybe they can order one that will fit my truck.I really dont care about the sound even though others sound nice.as long as i get better flow and little more power maybe ill buy a Walker DynoMax from advanced if they sell them.thanks

 

I went to dynomax web site they have one for a 5.8 95 but its says under 8500 gvw and mine is 8600 this is what it says.DynoMax: Dual - 3" / 2.5" system. Super Turbo Muffler.grrrr
