roof to back panel seam...fill it or not?

Any opinions on filling the body seams like the back panel to roof seam and the seams on the upper cowl. Body filler or weld?

I welded my seams at the cowl and cab roof to cab corner but I used seam sealer in seam above rear glass.

I think you have to weld, these cabs flex, and you WILL get a crack otherwise. you don't have to fill it completely, but a good tack every 4-6 inches at least.

Weld it up side to side, use a Bern-Z-Omatic torch and a wire brush to remove the original seam sealer first. Finish it off for that slick-az look. LOL

Isn't seam sealer a rubbery substance? I wouldn't think you could finish sand and paint it. What product are you refering to?

I welded mine - tacks about every inch, then filled it. Looks good for a few years now.

I second this. I welded mine solid, but the first couple of welds were ugly because the fumes from the original seam sealer raised hell on the shielding gas. Once I cleaned out wiht a wire wheel and a propane torch it went smoothly. I welded the whole seam end to end, but I think Randy Jack's suggestion of tacking is probably more than sufficient. That won't flex...

Seam sealer comes in various forms...the one you want is one of those that is a 2-part product. I use a 3M sealer, 2-part, that sets up in less than 10 minutes and has a consistency of a hockey puck when cured. This product can be sanded and painted...the only issue I have with it is that the expansion rate is different than the paint so I always leave a little space on top of the sealer to add a thin coat of body filler to finish off the repair.
