Also broke a ring and pinion on 35s. All this with stock motor.
ive seen it done. there is a guy down the road from me who has a d44 under his bronco and it is sitting on 39.5 inch TSL swampers. it can be done my friend. plus d60 are almost impossible to find for a decent price without going out of the hundreds. if i get a d44 and completely gut it out and stuff moser axle shafts d60 knuckles and a good gear set up it will be about equal to the d60 stock. without the headache of completely rebuilding the d60 for about 2 grand i would spend about a grand for the d44 axle and every part to rebuilt it. and it would be strong enough to be fitted with 38 to 40 inch tires.

Thats what i am thinking.

But its cool to see something different i guess. Its just that the outers aint the Only problem. The gears are what i get trouble out of. Spider gears and the ring and pinion. But i hope it turns out good for you. If it works for you then you gave everyone else on here a nice alternative.
