1995 F250 leaking oil fromhigh ressure reservoir

Our truck is leaking oil from the high pressure reservoir into the oil pan. Does not start. We drain some oil from the oil pan and put it back in the high pressure reservoir. The truck will then run for a couple weeks then it leaks back to the oil pan again. We changed the high pressure pump but it still doing the same thing. Any ideas on how to fix this?

What pump did you get for your truck?

The 94's and 95's have different drain back valves than the 95-97's.

They changed it mid year in 95 IIRC.

If you put a 96 or 97 pump in the older trucks, you get issues like that.

The 85-86 bit. William was asking what year pump y'all installed and you said 85-86. Maybe I missed something. He's asking because the early powerstroke 94.5-e95 used a
Different front cover. The pump from those years had a built in check valve to keep the res full. The newer ps changed the front cover and integrated a stand pipe inside it and did away with the check
Valve. So what year is your truck? And what year pump did you order for it?

Was it leaking down before the pump change? Just trying to clear up what I'm reading.

edit: nevermind, reread it. You didn't happen to lose the spring deal up in the oil filter housing when the oil was last changed did you? Just a thought

This thread seems interesting, so I'm just going to drop in here to learn. Consider this a free bump.

bulla: just so you all know when i sound like i dont know what i am talking about i really dont. My husband is the truck guy. I'm the computer one so i get stuck looking up info for him. he said that they got an engine from someone andd they took the pump off of it. the engine was either an 85 or 86 and there apparently wasn't much diference between the pumps. i will ask him more when he gets home.

Correction: he now says the engine they got was either 95 or 96.

Maybe he meant 95 or 96? There is a difference in them like Talyn mentioned, but you were having issues before the pump change. Any other symptoms besides the draining of the resevoir?

yeah he did mean 95 or 96.

He said the truck date on the door is 10/94 so that would make it early 95.

If those year numbers are right, I think Keith Stone nailed this one on post #2 of this thread.

Edit: Whoops, nevermind. Reading is fundamental, I guess, LOL.

She said the problem was the before the pump change ..

As was asked earlier , has the oil been changed lately , did the problem begin then ?...

Mighta had the wrong pump to begin with as well Rick.

I read it as they replaced the pump and then it started to happen.
Thats my bad.
But if it is the wrong pump, then...

With the spring/check ball in the filter housing, it would have starting issues every day, not just once a week.
just my WAG.

Hi, i have read this post and my son has about the same problem with out 95psd.
We have a oil leak that i believe is from the plug at the bottom of the hpop as we are going
thru a oil tanker of oil and we to i believe lost the check ball at oil filter found spring but we
could not find check ball as we did think anything of it.
I have read some posts here that the plug on bottom hpop is not difficult just time consuming about 5hrs i believe + parts.
