ADVICE ON TURBOCHARGING FT ENGINE SERIES.
#2
If you are considering a 391 for anything other than an f500 or larger you might want to do some reading on the differences.

if you already have the 391 I would use the goodies and put them into a good 390 block, give you some good steel that would make a great bottem end. other than that setting up a turbo requires some math depending on your setup.
speaking of which, what are you planning this monster for?
and fyi, please lay off the caps button, its considered yelling on here.

Well we have plans for a F500 or F600 as they are the "smaller" of the F-SERIES TRUCKS (not pick-ups)
I do not want to convert it to a DIESEL by slamming a CUMMINS on it.
I would like to work on something like this
And put some set of WHEEL and TIRE combo like this
Drop the truck to the ground, make it TURBO and dress-up the engine....
just to have some fun and be diffrent at trruck shows....
So, what do you think????
Let me get it , 391 FT engine internals on a 390 FE BLOCK????

ok, I see where your going, should be really neat.
I have thought about the same with a 55 f6 that my dad has. and me and my dad have talked about getting a 6v53tt for my grandpa's old 59 f350 (im one in a long line of truck drivers, grandpa loved the sound of those leaky old two strokes)
i would just use the crank, rods (watch the piston height though, I think that the 391 had a miniscule sdditional stroke, like .010 or something), and huge oil pan out of a 391, along with some forged pistons into a 390 with some aftermarket heads (or at least some ported decent castings) and a matched cam. some shorty headers and stick the turbo somewhere it can be seen. maybe one on each side sitting on top of some custom upswept headers. should be plenty of room for an intercooler. blow through carb, etc. back it up with 7 speed from behind a DT466. or you could even get manly and back it up with a 4+4!
