96f350 body swap question

Hoping someone will know the answer to this. I have a 96 f350 reg cab long bed. The frame and running gear has been 100% new restored. I am thinking now I want to swap the wrecked body for a 95 ext.cab short bed body. Will the reg cab long bed frame accept the ext.cab short bed body without any major mods? And what if anything would i need to change. thanks for any help on this.

Why would you want to exchange the engine for a 351/400 M engine? The better choice would be to install a 68 or later FE engine, preferably a 390 with the extra reinforcements cast into the block. The torque and power alone makes it the better choice than the Modified doggy engines. Plus if you're wanting to build a unique engine you can swap the the FE heads/pistons and such into an FT block, there are exceptions Connecting rods etc as to what's interchangable but if you want an engine with an almost bullet proof FT bottom end and FE performance top end then that would be the way to go.

SORRY THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO POST TO A DIFFERENT THREAD ABOUT SOMEONE WANTING TO DO AN ENGINE SWAP FROM A 390 TO A 400M ENGINE.

Check the door tags for wb measurments. If they are the same id assume you could. Measure from the front cab mounts back to the center of the rear axle if they are the same your golden.

you would have to move the rear cab mount back and that would mean a little bit of fab work !

Just did the opposite swap on my 96 that had an extra cab that was wrecked and the frames are different,as the floor on the extra cab requires the frame to be lower in the extar cab section.I had to reposition the rear cab rubber and fabricate mounting brackets for a height of about 6 inches.Hope this helps,Ronjon
