Rear Hub 74 3/4 ton
Hi everyone,
I need to locate a rear hub for a 74 F350 3/4 (or 1 ton) dually. Any help as to where I would find one is much appreciated. Although I live near Toronto Canada I can have it shipped here. Apparently there were only two size options for that vintage and model and believe it or not I have one of each installed on my truck!
What happens is that the wrong one allows the brake shoes to stick out past the drum 1/4 inch or so and the seals to leak. Only this latest mechanic "discovered" this and brought it to my attention this week after my having owned it for 15 years and an annual inspection being done every one of those years!

Hi Angus, Have you checked those two wrecking yards on the highway toward Uxbridge on Brock Road ?
One of them was into 4x4 stuff, you can see the huge sign on the fence on the East side of the road.
Too bad you didn't show up on here last year.
Where abouts in Whitby are you ?

Hi Angus Welcome to FTE
I think Dennis is talking about PS auto wreckers on Halls rd. They might have what your looking for here's their # 905-686-3771. If not try Van & Truck World on Simcoe st in Oshawa ask for Jay, if he doesn't have it he can probably direct you as where to find it.
I'll ask around here in Port Perry and see what I can dig up.

thanks Nutter,
will try PS auto,
also Van World and let u now.
There is a great place for older Fords around Balyntree called "Stewarts" and he new right away that there were only two sizes available for that vintage, but unfortunately he didn't have the one I need and in fact told me that it would be a rare find indeed.
Jay at Van & Truck World?
I think I went to school with him at Port Perry High or am I thinking of Mike? Hmmm....

Hey Angus -
If you are ever down in Peterborough you might try Lakefield Autowreckers. They seem to have the most old Ford Trucks around of anyone in this area and they NEVER seem to crush anything (i'm going by the trees growing up through some of the ones that have been there a while!) The number to call them at is: (705) 652-3803

first of all...
I got hung up on a bunch of other repair work to the truck like door pins, mirrors, cab mounts, body work, paint etc etc etc
that I haven't even got to the hub issue yet. I did talk to one guy at Stewarts in Ballyntree who new right away that there were two different hubs available for that truck that year ('74). I am always impressed by that immediate, knowledgable kind of response. Anyway the one i need he says is hard to find and the one I don't want he has in stock...so I must keep searching. I have yet to do the basic wreckers search as there were these three places recommended to me, (Stewarts, Taylor Bros. wrecking - in Mount Albert & Ben's farm just east of Durham 57 on Taunton Rd.)
Anyhow will let u know, may need more ideas...haven't gone as far as Lakefield yet and thanks for that lead , may have to check that out yet.

Good stuff Angus
I'm gonna have to mosey on over to Ballyntre and take a look around at this Stewarts place. I'd like to get me a couple of those magnetic under the hood reel lights that Steve83 mentioned in the 87-96 forum. It's a magnetic mount light that's on a self winding reel, so it can be moved around the truck and stuck anywhere. Only God and my 12 year old know where my flashlights end up
