I have to go pick up the wife's SRX, origionally, it was going to be taken for a HVAC recall, but I had noticed about 2 weeks earlier, that after a drive, when parked, a small spot of oil was forming under the front of the car..no one else had parked in that spot, so looking underneath, I could just see the faintest bit of oil film on a seat mount behind the engine..turns out it is a defect in the aluminum oil pan..just a tiny crack, you can almost miss it..but with a warm engine, you can wipe that small area, and oil will seep back. Anyway, to pull the pan, you have to remove the lower engine front cover, plus the oil cooler, plus wait for the new pan and gaskets to be delivered, so everything they need should be delivered this am..it should be on it's phase of being put back together, which is 6 hours by the book. Since this has not happened to any other SRX, (of course), it has become a learning curve, but it will be fully checked out before I take it home. I do not anticipate any real problems, it's not like they have to dissasemble intricate parts of the engine. And they are real good people there..they are not the kind that will leave us by the side of the road. I just hate the fact it is so far away, and damned if the weather wont play along for just a day for me!!

I hope they get it all fixed up for you. Good to know you've got a good shop to go to, that is the hardest part sometimes.

Hey Congrats on 300! I had a great diesel guy at the dealer right by my house, but he was either fired , or quit. So, I go back to the dealer where I bought it, which is fine. It was just nice knowing the guy that worked on it, and he did a lot of extra things for it.

Thanks! Yeah, it's getting harder to find a dealership that wants to go the extra mile, plus have a great mechanic.

I can do most everything to my gas vehicles, but that damn diesel is just too complicated. I won't touch it! That's why I'm looking forward to getting my 67 done. Easy to work on, and I could sit on the fenderwell under the hood to work on it, with all of the space in the engine compartment!!LOL

Good Morning Pat! Well, as you can see, we didn't make it out Utah way yet..the svc. Mgr called last night telling me the gaskets did not come in, BUT he went ahead and called to where they ship from and made sure the stuff is on the truck and will be here sometime this am...So, hopefully tomorrow am will be good..he extended and paid for the rental Caddy to next monday, so we are good that way anyway.

Good Morning Steve! Heh..yes, it's nice..it's a 2011 CTS4 performance collection 4 door, but it has the 3.0, if I owned one I would prefer the 3.6, but I sure miss the SRX, I cannot wait to get it back!
