Didn't get as warm as predicted here yesterday. Maybe low sixties.
Part that sucks about spring is I usually get water in my basement. Foundation walls have cracks. I'm sick of it. Probably Have to dig down on the outside of each one and waterproof them. No rain today but more tomorrow.
Good morning Vermont, Spring rocks! And summer is even better, embrace the heat Steve....LOL
Good morning Pat.
Spring is ugly! Mud,brown grass, dirty melting snow, mole holes all over the lawn and the annoying flies and mosquitoes. Can we fast forward to September?
You have to watch the water seepage into the foundation, if it still goes into the block, but not through, it still disintegrates the block from the inside from the water pressure.
We had that same problem, Jim. Installed drain tile, and a sump. Nary a problem since.
I got 2 dumps in the basement but the water needs to travel to them. I might have convinced my wife to let me take my grinder with a diamond wheel and cut a channel to direct the water to the sump quicker, as a temporary fix of course.
Like to put crushed stone and pipe around the perimeter to get it away before it has a chance but not sure if there is enough elevation drop to daylight the end of it.

This is a case in place concrete foundation. Might have been built around 70. I don't think the idiot that did it had a good sub base so Some settlement occurred causing cracks. Or the watered the mix up real good to get it to flow and creating shrinkage cracks.
The other thing working against me, I believe, is there is a swamp around 80' behind the house so when that baby fills up in the spring it must raise the ground water level and increase the hydraulic pressure.
Jim, we have channeling also, forgot to mention that.
My slab isn't perfectly level either. That quarter of the floor has the low area diagonal across it. It is actually good because it tends to channel it towards the sump and limit its tsunami like spreading.
