ive learned that the premium sound system leaves something to be desired..
Or maybe im just expecting to much.
rode in a 2011 dodge 2500. and that system had more sound adjustments (bass, treble, mid-range) and possibly the pre set eqs as well.
I also want a larger sub. There is music that i know should sound better but the small sub just cant seem to move enough air.

The factory sub and "amp" are pathetic, especially when you pay extra to have a premium system. I heard the pre-11's premium system was much better.. I had a JL 13TW5 sub and JL HD900/5 installed yesterday. Unfortunately the sub output on the amp was toast out of the box so I'm waiting on another amp, should be here today or tomorrow.

Pics of the factory junk:

I was travelling at 55mph in cruise control and went down a steep hill. I noticed that as my speed touched 60, the tranny dropped down to 5th, then 4th.

Just got back from a 100 mile roundtrip and figured out that hitting the + and - with cruise control engaged bumps it up or down at 1mph increments. I confirmed this in the manual (which had I read it (RTFM), I would've already known!).

Got my JL amp replaced today, huge difference in the audio. It made me realize how crappy the door speakers are now though. Going to have to replace those at some point in the near future.

I learned after having a Dodge Caliber for a tick over 24 hours how much I love my truck.

I was wondering where it was now. It used to be in the grill.

Sargemo105,
Thanks for that info, I had wondered about why the temp readings seemed high compared to ambient air temps.
Best regards,
Russ

I learned that my truck has some sort of hill start assist function that I have no idea how to operate. I was parked on an incline (nose downhill), put it in reverse and the back up alarm came on, I tried to back up and it felt like the brakes were locked up. Going forward was not an issue, it finally backed up when I gave it enough gas. OOOORRRRR there is something wrong with my truck. Any input?

If you are on a hill the brakes will hold so it doesn't roll downhill on you when you are starting off from a stop.

It will do the same thing if the nose is up, this way you won't roll backwards either.

If I remember when I read the manual it said something about time. I think it only holds it for something like three seconds. I would have to go look again to be sure of the time.

P287-288 in the manual:

Hill assist feature
The hill assist feature makes it easier to pull away when the vehicle is on
a slope without the need to use the parking brake. When the hill assist
feature is active, the vehicle will remain stationary on the slope for up to
two seconds after you release the brake pedal. During this time, you
have time to move your foot from the brake to the accelerator pedal and
pull away. The brakes are released automatically once the engine has
developed sufficient drive to prevent the vehicle from rolling down the
slope. This is an advantage when pulling away on a slope; for example
from a car park ramp, traffic lights or when reversing uphill into a
parking space.

WARNING: The hill assist feature does not replace the parking
brake. When you leave the vehicle, always apply the parking
brake and select first or reverse gear.
Using the hill assist feature

The hill assist feature is activated automatically when the vehicle is
stopped on a slope greater than five degrees. The hill assist feature
operates with the vehicle facing downhill if reverse gear is selected. The
hill assist feature will not operate if the parking brake is activated.

WARNING: You must remain in the vehicle once you have activated the hill assist feature.
Activating the hill assist feature
1. Press the brake pedal to bring the vehicle to a complete standstill.
Keep the brake pedal pressed.
2. If the sensors detect that the vehicle is on a slope, the hill assist
feature will be activated automatically.
3. When you remove your foot from the brake pedal, the vehicle will
remain on the slope without rolling away for approximately up to two
seconds. This hold time will automatically be extended if you are in the
process of driving off.
4. Drive off in the normal manner. The brakes will be released
automatically.

WARNING: If the engine is revved excessively, or if a
malfunction is detected when the hill assist feature is active, the
hill assist feature will be deactivated.

How about those paper fenderwells

I was going to put mud flaps on the front of my F350 XL and when I got down to look at where to screw them in I thought " you have got to be kidding" , I spend all this money on a truck and the fender wells look like paper, plastic would have been an improvment. There is no way these things will last for the life of the truck. Still love the truck, they could have cheaped out somewhere else.

I found out if your 3 y/o son power folds and opens the mirrors in rapid succession several times they quit working.

I thought he blew a fuse but turns out I just had to key it to accessory once. Not sure what that was all about but it's definitely something new I found out.
