2007 Expedition EL Limited - Rev/speed limiter?

Can anyone point me towards any resources (if available) to disable/bypass the rev/speed limiter? Was surprised that it "throws out the anchor" at 100 MPH....

Why on earth would you need to take a Expedition over 100MPH??

My 2007 cut out at 103MPH. My 2011 is similar. I'm not sure if it's a rpm limiter or speed limit (limit). Didn't have the time to look down that long to see.

Try to find a set of 44" mudder tires... the huge circumfrence will full the speed limiter into thinking you're only going 100 when its actually going 120 or so!

I would check the speed rating of your tires too. Bad things happen when tire disassemble.

Good point! I had to put four new tires on in the fall - Michelin LTX M/S2. They were almost $1400 installed (with an aligment). Pretty good T rating on them at 118 MPH. Still nowhere near the tires I had on my old sport sedan!

Well that's a great reason to take a 6000+ lb brick over 100

Frankly, if you want to go over 100mph you might have done better to put that $1400 towards an old BMW sport sedan. While likely exhausted at this point, at least it was initially designed to hit those speeds.

Buying a 2007 BMW 750iL (what are they now, about $40,000 used?) and expecting it to tow your 8,000 lb boat, haul firewood through the woods, or carry 8 people in its 5 seats would be no less ridiculous than pushing your Expy faster.

I like speed as much as the next guy, but you need a different set of car keys.

All points well taken, thx for the advice. (Though I'm a long way from 14, I'll admit to immaturity at times! )

It's good enough to make me want to take my 8000 lb truck over 100 mph
