clutch release bracket

Hello folks,

Doc here. Well, now that spring is here I'm trying to get my 66 back on the road. Had the 352 rebuilt this winter, and as I was trying to reinstall the clutch release components, I realized I lost one of the brackets for the release bar assembly. I have the release bracket that mounts onto the frame, but I can't figure out where I put the release bracket that mounts onto the engine. Any ideas where I might find a replacement or part number?

Thanks in advance.

Doc

Number Dummy will be much better at this than I am, but in case he missed you, I'll give it a try. I have several reference manuals that are really helpful. One is the 1966 Ford Truck Shop Manual. If you have one or can get one, see illustration in Part 5-3 on page 5-15. Another is the 1964-72 Ford Truck Master Parts book. If you have access to that one, in Section 75, page 41, it lists the part I think you are missing as "Bracket Assy, Clutch Release Equalizer Engine." The part number will vary by whether your truck is 4WD or 2WD. It will also vary by whether your serial number is before or after 830,001. If your truck is 2WD and before 830,001 your part number is C5TZ7A572-A. If your truck is 2WD and after 830,001 your P/N is C6TZ7A572-M. I didn't look up the 4WD ones, but if your truck is 4WD, I can. It is an "L" shaped bracket about 3 inches long that mounts vertically with two bolts at the driver side rear of your 352's block. It will have a pin sticking out of it horizontally that will wear a lubricant bushing (not really the correct terminology), a nylon bushing, and a clip that holds everything in place. The pin with bushings fits inside the engine side of your clutch Z bar. There is an illustration of this in Illustration Section 75, page 13 of the '64-'72 Master Parts book. Good luck.

The serial number is the last 6 digits of the VIN.

"About Me" feature sez: 1966 F100 / Look on the engine block (as suggested above) or bellhousing to see if the bracket is still there. The "lubricant bushing" is: 358979-S = thick felt washer, there's 1 on both pivots.

C5TZ-7A572-A .. Clutch Pivot Bracket-Engine Side / Obsolete

Fits: 1965 F100/250 352 2WD // 1966 F100/250 352 2WD before serial number 830,001 // 1966 F100 352 4WD before serial number 830,001.

I found only 1 NOS (New Old Stock).
-----------------------------------
C6TZ-7A572-M .. Clutch Pivot Bracket-Engine Side / Obsolete

Fits: 1966 F100/250 352 2WD from serial number 830,001 // 1966 F100 4WD from serial number 830,001 // 1967 F100/250 352 2WD/4WD & F350 // 1968/76 F100/250 360/390 2WD/4WD & F350.

I found 15 NOS

I ran out of time to research on my first post and Number Dummy came along, as I hoped he would, to sort out some stuff. So now tell him which of the two part numbers you need and hope he can find it for you. I have several parts catalogs and none of them have the bracket. NPD and LMC have the associated parts which are the felt washer (which I erroneously called a lubricant bushing in my first post), p/n 358979-S, the nylon ball, clutch release equalizer shaft, p/n 7543, and the snap ring, p/n 97474-S. And I failed to note that only the C5TZ bracket is three inches long. The C6TZ bracket is four inches long. Good luck.

The OP has been informed in a P/M who has the only 1 of C5TZ-7A572-A. The same source has 3 of C6TZ-7A572-M.

Also has the nylon bushings: C1AA-7543-A, the felt washers: 358979-S, but not the 97474-S clips-which are still available from Ford.

I usually list the info here, but when there's only one, I usually send 'the asker' an email or P/M.

If I did list the info, someone might beat him/her to it. That's happened before with 65/66 V8 2WD accelerator cables (now repopped), 292 rad. hoses, and myriad other stuff.

There's an old saying: Obsolete parts are hard to find. If you snooze, you lose.

Thanks for the help, guys. This will get me on the right track. I'm also going to spend the day cleaning out the garage.

clutch release bracket

Gentlemen,
I find myself in the same predicament described in this thread. I have a 1967 F250 that came with the 352. I have lost the clutch equalizer pivot bracket that attaches to the engine. Which part number will I need? I am installing a 360 but I imagine all FE engines are the same. How do I translate the VIN into the seroial number mentioned in the thread above? Thanks!

Easy one - 830,001 was March 1966. As they continued counting and got to 913,999 they ran out of first digit numbers so switched to the first character being a letter.

913,999 - August 1966 - 1966 Model year
A00,000 - August 1966 - 1967 Model year

Your A70,635 indicates January 1967.

No, since 2011 the 15 of them Bill mentioned above look like they moved on to new homes.

Used is one remaining option, at least.

Try ebay, LMC, and DC. I wonder if the same bracket was used on the '67 to '72 trucks.
