Engine coolant temp. sensor

Is there any easy way to get access to and replace the engine coolant temperature sensor? I'm havin trouble gettin a tool on it. Any advice is appreciated.

The sensor should be mounted in a tube above the thermostat housing and pointed towards the front, you should be able to get a wrench on it with the intake tubes out of the way though in come cases the alternator may have to come off.
