Are there original Ford towing papers

Hi,

Because of Dutch legislation I am looking for some papers in which the maximum towing capacity of a 73 F250 2WD 8100 GVW are mentioned. Did Ford ever produce such papers or is this just not availble. I would like to put a trailer behind my truck, but before it is legal (because of insurance etc.) I need to show how much the towing capacity according to factory specifications is.

Thanks,

Bart

If I am not mistaken, it is shown in the original owners manual.

The OP is looking for the official Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating, GCVWR.

The original owner manual for my 1973 F250 shows the max weight of 5000-6500 lbs for a vehicle with a GVWR of 7500 lbs. I see no mention of the 8100 lb GVWR for the F250. But, this owner manual does not seem to cover all models. It shows the 360 engine for all F250s but mine is a Camper Special and has the 390. I'll try to scan and post what my owner manual says..........No luck scanning it.

GVWR doesn't tell you towing capacity. I've seen people on this forum refer to that several times when people ask about towing capacity. If you could only tow the difference between truck weight and GVWR a new super duty would only be able to tow like 1,000Lbs.

I have the paperwork from a 73 f-250 camper special, and in the trailer towing recomendations for the 4x2 F-250 with a class 4 towing acc. heavy trailer towing package 5,000 to 6,500 lbs.. I could scan this and send it to you but I don't know how to post pics on here.. Or if neccessary I could maybe send them to you as I do not need them at all..

I looked in my 78 owners manual and it has several charts for all 4x2 and 4x4's F100 through F350 pertaining to towing capacities. If you would like I can scan and Email them to you. I know your's is a 73 but this might work for you.

If its an overseas model, the info from stateside vehicles MAY NOT pertain to his truck...........they do some strange stuff on overseas vehicles.............just an observation.....

I can not stress the need for brakes on the trailer strongly enough. Good luck towing. Stay safe.
