Typical DEF Usage Chart

Thought the forum would like to see this chart which provides "typical" DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) usage across several different build combinations (axle ratio, etc.).

Great info, Paul! I will add this to the tech folder under your oil filter file when I get home, I'm technically supposed to be working right now...

Thx Paul.
I seem to fall within the high side of the gray area for the 3.31.

Not that this has anything to do with DEF but I measured 420 degrees F at the tips during a high idle "regen" the other day.
Not as hot as I expected.

Nice to see.

Mine has had 2 fill ups from the 800 mile to empty warning.

First was at 6500 miles last October / November.

Second was today 6-25-11 at 18550 miles, so not to bad in my mind 12050 miles on the first fill up.

Although I will say I think that the DEF spent most of the winter frozen, which probably helped on the mileage. Plus at $20 for 2, 2 1/2 gallons jugs I am not going to complain.

19,200 miles, 3.55 axle. Not much towing, but a lot of relatively steep grades with moderate to heavy loads in the truck. I've probably got a fairly light foot on the throttle compared to many of you, but not grandpa-style with the turn signal flashing continuously....

I've never let the DEF drop very far below the half-full notice. I've added 8 gallons of DEF myself. Dealer service has probably added another 5 or 6 gallons at most.

Guessing the tank is probably a little above half right now, so roughly 15 or 16 gallons in 19,200 miles.
