i,m looking for some accurate aftermarket gauges... analog vs digital... any help and advice would be helpful...i want quality products that look pleasing to the eye.

 

Autometer is always a good choice and they have ranges from cheap "sunon" type up to hyper expensive systems that are integrated.
Stewart Warner is another good choice as would be ISSPro.

I think Analog looks better, and I like silver faces with orange needles so Autometer's Ultralites are up my alley. Expect $50 each for mechanical and probably $75 a pop for half sweep electric and a little more for full sweep electric.

 

I'm a fan of the Autometer Ultra-Lite's as well. They look great, are very accurate (as far as analog gauges are concerned), and the price is reasonable.


I have a pair of 2 5/8" Ultra-Lites (fuel pressure and vacuum/boost) under the hood and three 2 1/16" Ultra-Lites (coolant temp, oil pressure, and trans temp) in the center dash of my XR7. The other gauge faces were made to match.

 

Many people don't like them but I do, glowshift gauges are very good gauges. Many people say they are cheap but I think they are rather the same quality as my autometers. Here is a pic.

 

Thanks for all th info...i like what i,ve seen from stewart-warner so far...i like the glow shifts as well any opinions on the better of these two? one more question...if i go with mechanical gauges they would still read when the truck is off where the electric would not show anything with out power...right?

 

That's correct.

 

Glowshifts don't read while the truck is on - they are electric. They work awesome, it was only $200 for the gauges and pillar, you have 7 different colors too. The different colors make it fun for multiple drivers, my sis always puts them on purple when she drives. The green is a pretty close match to the ford green as well so I usually keep it on the green and it looks awesome.

 

alright thanks for the help....snapon how long have you had those gauges in your truck?....i've heard alot about how cheap they are...personally i like them quite a bit but something that i have read frequently is you get what you pay for with them to me that does speak of a lower quality gauge.

 

Thats what I kept reading before I got them too. So I just said for $200, it can't hurt. I got them, instalation was easy, and they work awesome. I have only had them for about a month but I pmed a couple guys on this forum who had them and they have had them for 3 years a no problems. So I just got them and I'm glad I did and didn't pay $450+ for Isspros. The shipping was free and I got it the next day.

 

Autometer is a great company with very high quality pieces. Couldn't go wrong with them.

 

I have the Stewart Warner Camelion gauges..... see my gallery. Nice thing about them is you can make them any color you wish.....comes with a control for doing that or continuously changing colors.....

 

Ya, glowshifts do that too. Just alot cheaper, lol.

 

Id go Autometer. I went Glowshift and I regret it..

Bad:
My fuel pressure gauge reads 10 psi too high.
2 of my gauges got here cracked
Pillar pod sucks. Fits terrible.
Gauges rattle..
Customer service SUCKS with them.

Glowshifts pyro boost and tranny temp is great. Fuel pressure ones always sucked.

 

My Oil and Trans temp gauges are killer. I've heard you sometimes need a 'signal filter' for some of the pressure gauges...maybe that's why the earlier poster had a 10psi difference?
