i had issues similar on a tauras once. try this stuff...BG transmission conditioner...i forget the actual title but check around for a place that sells BG products and give it a try. it could save you alot of time and headache. since then ive used it on several of mine and my friends vehicles and this stuff really works great. there are many brands out there but ive found that all of the BG products work very well. i ran this in my tranny and within (no joke) 5 miles my problem disappeared. i couldnt believe it. one friend had a bad chatter problem in a chevy pickup and ran it and same thing...the chatter went away. after a week i had my tranny flushed after changing the filter myself....after the flush i went ahead and added the conditioner again and i didnt have any problems. a friends mom bought the car from me and he claims there are no issues at all so IMHO this would be an inexpensive try for you. good luck

What did it end up being?

Mines is doing this around 30 mph and also at 50-60 mph. This is getting annoying. 3rd transmission issue since I bought the thing and ford still can't fix it right

I have not gone back to the dealer as the slipping is gone...once again. This is strange, I can't believe the slipping would disappear just like that. It seemed to have disappeared when I drove it for 30 miles, non-stop. Will the slipping return? Who knows, hopfully not.

BTW, where exactly is the coil pack located?

They don't have a coil pack, they have a COP which is a coil over plug. Each plug has it's own coil pack, if you will, and when they begin to fail it feels much like a miss or a skip or even a slip. Similar feeling to when a plug wire breaks or breaks down on an older car.

A slip should be easy to differentiate from a miss. When a slip happens you lose forward momentum yet the rpm's rise. A miss will feel like you are running out of gas, a buck or stumble type feeling.

Agreed sir but I was feebly attempting to point out that on these newer cars symptoms sometimes present as other things.

Your correct, Tim. It was a Coil over Plug (COP) that had gone bad. It only seemed to fail when I was towing and had the engine under load, which was not that often. RPMs' did not go up, but it sure did feel like a transmission slipping.

This is fairly common on the mod motors. My Expy is getting a little up in age and has 81K on the clock. I'm getting a scan tool from Auto Zone very soon, the COP's are too easy to repair to pay someone to do it. But, you need a scan tool to diagnose and locate the correct misfire.

Thanks for the update!

Problem is back, worse than before

Sorry, I haven't gotten back to you guys. Remember on April 10th, I said that the jerking disappeared when driving it more than 30 miles non-stop. It drove smoothly for about 2 weeks without issues. Shortly after that, the jerking returned once again, but not as bad as it was before the transmission flush. It was doing a mild jerk at around 40mph, but we kind of ignored it.
Today, it acted so bad while traveling on the interstate that it felt more of a buck than a jerk. It's a continuous jerking that feels like the car is going to stall. At one point, it bucked so bad, it felt like I ran over something. The only temporary fix to this was to simply let go of the accelerator. If I stepped on the gas, it would jerk again, but it depends, now it jerks at random speeds above 40mph. Basically, I stepped on the gas only when I needed to speed up, other than this, I coasted all the way down the interstate. I made it home, however, I won't be able to take it to the dealer until wednesday. In the meantime, me and my wife will be using our 06 Charger. Hopefully it won't be an expensive fix.
