Oil leak

It appears that i have an oil leak. I am starting to see a moderate amount of oil spots under the truck when ever it is parked. There is no evidence of where the oil could be coming from other than around the front and rear of the oil pan. So what would be the easiest way to change the gaskets, because apparently the previous mechanic didn't do a good enough job.

You need to verify where that oil is coming from. It may be as simple as a valve cover gasket or worst case the oil pan gasket. Also add in a rear main or harmonic balancer seal.

Take it to the car wash, and power wash the junk away and see if you can tell the location. Could also be loosened oil pan bolts..Very *cheap* fix. A lot of fords like to leak near the corners of the oil pan.

and sometimes the pan gasket squishes out the sides
if a cheaper one was used-I had that
if the bulk of the leak is at the rear of the motor and not much oil running down from the upper part - then I would bet rear main
and yes they are a pain to change~~~~~

Thanks guys, I cleaned the area around the pan. And it turned out to be the rear main seal. It was pinched, so Im gonna place the blame on whom ever installed it the first time
