Question RSK questions

right now my truck is comletely stock as far as suspension goes. i've been told that an RSK can make it ride smoother, and also give it enough lift to clear 35's (37's would be nice but i don't think an RSK would give enough lift???), which is what i'm planning on doing. that being said, don't RSK's only lift the front? if i go with Sky's 5", will i need to get blocks for the back, or will it sit level? i don't want the front sagging down, but i hate the stupid "front sits higher than the back" lifts. if there's anyone with the 5", or even the 3" RSK, can you help me out and maybe even put some pics up???

I used the 3" RSK when I did my 4x4/D60 conversion. As William said, it only raises the front. Sky does make a shackle flip kit for the rear. I cheated and stole a rear axle, forward spring mount from my donor truck and replaced the back spring mount on the rear springs. That gave the back a 5" lift for about $6 worth of bolts and a little elbow grease. And yes, I run 37's. I did install bushwacker cutout flares and shimmed/trimmed the bumper.

Did you need to trim the fender or just the bumper? I have a custom bumper that doesn't go as far in as the stock one, but my concern is if it will rub the fender by the door??

It did rub the fender and bumper before I trimmed, but I had a little bit different case. I kept the dually hubs and put single rims on the front. Therefore the backspacing left the tire quite far out of the fender. This also made the outside of the tire reach further toward the fender when turning. Does that make sense? With the correct backspacing (read: correct rim) the tire may have fit without fender trimming.

okay, i see what you're saying... my tires right now stick out about 1.2-2" from the fender, but i know with the factory lift my 33's are as big as i can get... are you happy with the height AND ride with your RSK? would it be possible for you to post a pic so i could see how high it sits???

Some pics

The first 3 pics are before the fender flares and trimming. The one without the bumper was pretty obviously taken before I was done the project.

My truck will never be finished or clean.
I took a couple earlier today that I'll try to get uploaded. We shall see.
There's a bunch of pics in my gallery from when I did the 4x4 conversion. I did the RSK and shackle flip at the same time. They're in the RSK install folder.

Pics #3 really shows the wider stance. I actually had to mount the front rims inverted otherwise the whole tire was outside of the fender.

Wow, I can see what you mean, but it looks good to me! Thanks for the help! I'm glad to hear that 37's will fit with the rsk too, being a former marine I can probably get my hands on some of the 37x12.50x16.5 goodyear wranglers they use on the humvees!

how are they on road noise??? i've driven the humvees (which have just about NO sound cancelling precautions) on pavement before, but on base you can't drive over 35 mph, so i never found out what they sound like doing highway speeds...

They're not too bad actually. The 36's that I had before were worse as were the discoverer STT's. There are a few others on here that are running them too. Miss Independant is for sure. Mind you, I haven't seen her on here for a while.

I spoke to her recently. She has been busy. She still pops in from time to time.
