Beckoning

We've been here many times, but it continues to pull me back. Better than anything in Walt's world; truly magical. If you've never been, make this journey.

I've only been over it once, and that was many decades ago, but I'm going to guess that's CA-120 going over the back entrance to Yosemite.

I think it is near Lone Pine. Not sure what that frozen lake is, but somewhere near Whitney.

The first two photos could be lakes on US120, like Ellery or Tioga. They would still be frozen. All of CA120 between US395 and Yosemite are alpine country, unlike the last 3 photos..

The last 3 photos are definitely the Owens valley, which is south of Bishop.

We could call it all Eastern Sierra and be correct, I think.

Youse guys are good!
1,2 Lone Pine lake; about 2.5 miles above the Whitney Portal.
3&5 are looking north into the Panamint Valley.
4 is at Alabama hills looking West. Where Iron Man demonstrated his awesome weapon.

And that's just what I did, Jim.

It's not difficult once you "get the hang" of using the interwebz.

That's out in Daggett, on old Route 66. Lots of old, abandoned stuff out there. Now, we just cruise by it on the interstate without thinking of anything but "making time".

It was once someone's hopes and dreams.

Every time I watch the original "Cars" movie, I think of those old buildings out in the middle of nowhere abandoned.

When I see places like this I get the urge to get busy fixing them up and doing something with them. Notice however that I have not succumbed to those urges.

The banner across the road that read, "Welcome Interstate Travelers" said it all!
