I wonder just how long it will be until the Feds determine that ANY modification to a vehicle will be illegal.

That's going to put quite a damper on customizing cars, and the SoCal "automobile lifestyle".

Not too mention the aftermarket companies. They would let everyone go. Unemployment, here we come. That would be great for the economy...Not.

Here is an iconic bridge around LA. Been seeing it regularly in a car commercial on TV recently. They sure can do a good job of masking out the wires and undesirable surroundings. Figure out the bridge street name, and what it crosses.

That's the Fourth Street Bridge, Bill.

As you said, it's iconic!

Haven't seen the commercial, however.

Got it Pop.

Crosses the LA River as well as a very large Santa Fe rail yard. If I remember the railroad correctly.

The commercial is for MBZ. But the bridge pops up in a lot of stuff.

Was out and about this week:

I recall driving by, but this was my first chance to camp overnight (and pay $25).

Also tried to hike this peak again, not successful, but sure was pretty up there. The road is nearly completed with repaving. Overnight here was only $13; but it got into the 20F's.

On a roll, here's the 3rd Where am I? A bit closer to home and a site of some G2G's.

Not sure on the first one. Seen a lot of rock formations over the years.

Second is obviously Lone Pine and Mt Whitney trail. Why did you not make it to the peak? I am certain it was not for lack of endurance.

Third is probably the Peterson Museum, although I have not been there since the remodel. I know you have.

Heading to the Sierra myself next week. Gonna be cold. Gonna try to hike to Tamarack and Hunewill Lakes. Maybe Barney lake if I survive the others.

As meatloaf crooned: 2 outta 3 aint bad Bill!

You'll pass location #1 on your way to Sierra's on Hwy 14.

I got up at 4am and was on the trail by 4:30. By 9am I was too pooped to go further. Something to do with elevation acclimation...

having issues getting photo's right side up!

The only paid camping out that way that I know of, is Red Rock Canyon. State park I believe. That would explain the overpriced campsite.

Never gave the park much attention, but there is great off-roading out there. Jawbone canyon is good this time of year, on weekdays. But I think across the road in the El Paso Mtns is more interesting. Besides Burro Schmidts tunnel, there is lots of mining ruins to discover. Plus the old pumice mine is interesting. Need to get the Jeep out there this autumn.

I rarely take the 14 to the Sierra.

Was through Red Rock on CA-14 last Friday, Sep 30th.

Sean's photos sure look familiar!

As a result of a couple of pix Bill posted a while ago, the missus and I took the dogs out to Cottonwood Kilns so they could take a leak.

Got it Pop and Bill. They did have free wi-if at my campsite - just what I need to really get away.

Kilns look great!

Drove through downtown El Centro this weekend- it's still dying a slow death.

Only 95F, so definitely cooling off. Reminded me of sweating behind that Batman mask when trick or treating as a youth.
