Reason for Down Pipe Mod
#16
yeah, the 3" DP is a big help when it comes to bringing out the turbo whistle. plus it is said to give another 5-10 HP. i know i felt a pretty big difference. intake makes the turbo a little louder, but not much. the more pipe you have, the quieter the whistle. something else i'm probably going to do is get thicker insulation inside the cab, which will drown out some more of that exhaust sound too. Oh, and the way it's set up, i can still hear the turbo whistle doing 70 mph over the radio and road noise.

Yeah I got travelers with me like Pops but he will be alright he really like's the truck. My Mom got in it today and surprised me when she liked the noise of it. Wait till she hears it in a couple of weeks LOL. Thanks Again I sent my first rep I think Ill go back and send some to the people who first helped me as well, now that I know what they are.

What's going to make that engine run great is a nice warm block and the coolest air you can get without cooling the block too much. Most of the time the air isn't going to be TOO cool. That's where the intake and exhaust come in. Get an intake that can move all the air you need then address expelling that air. Opening up that downpipe is going to decrease your EGTs and subsequently temps upstream of it. Those things should help with HP and economy. Plus the sound is wicked awesome. I did my downpipe early this week. Took like an hour. One cut with the sawzall and old one was out. Two cuts at the firewall seam and a slight bend and new was in. Voila!
